I am originally from the Mountain West (Idaho and Utah) but have lived in the DMV (DC, Maryland, and Virginia) area for about fifteen years now and I love it here.

My parents owned a flower shop when I was little— that’s a real rose I’m holding in that photograph! My dad loved flowers and photography and art; he’s the reason I ended up doing what I’m doing. My mom likes being financially solvent; she’s the reason why I was so cautious about starting my own business. (She’s also the reason why I’ve been able to afford to do so.)

I have worked at many jobs, including as a gift wrapper, scullery maid, math tutor, ESL teacher, chief undergardener, appliance maintenance scheduler, and tooth fairy.

I started telling bedtime stories to my younger siblings when I was ten and I haven’t really stopped. It took me a lot longer to be confident enough of my artistic skills to let my art out into the world.

I’m currently working on a graphic novel. When will it be done? I don’t know— I’ve never written one before.
